Professional studies

The Bartlett offers several professional studies courses for graduates at various stage of their architectural training. These are:

Stage 1: Year Out

This course is open to graduates doing their Year Out who have completed their ARB/RIBA Part 1 at the Bartlett or any other school of architecture.

Stage 2: PEDR Monitoring

This programme is open to graduates that require a Professional Studies Advisor to supervise their recording of Post Part 2 experience using the RIBA's Professional Education and Development Record (PEDR) system.

Postgrad Diploma in Professional Practice & Management in Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 3)

From January 2012 the Bartlett is offering two new part-time Postgraduate Diploma Part 3 programmes (for UK and non-UK educated applicants) to meet the newly revised ARB/RIBA regulations for Professional Criteria and Experience in Architecture

Postgrad Diploma in Professional Practice & Management - Lectures Only

This lecture course is also available separately from the Postgraduate Diploma Part 3 programmes. It provides lectures that deliver the awareness, understanding and knowledge required by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) for competence to practise. This course is available to anyone wishing to familiarise themselves with UK practice.

ARB Examination Guidance

In order to register as an Architect in the UK, candidates who do not have a prescribed Part 1 or Part 2 qualification are required to have obtained the Architect's Registration Board (ARB) Prescribed Examination in addition to the Part 3 examination prior to applying for registration. We hold regular seminar evenings to explain how the examination process is conducted and provide advice on how to complete the application.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The RIBA and ARB regard undertaking CPD as essential to maintain an architect's competence to practise. As part of our Lecture Only Course we offer the opportunity to attend targeted themed days of lectures covering specific topics e.g. practice management, client management and briefing, partnering and NEC contracts, the JCT suite of contracts. These themed days can be booked separately for CPD.

Please contact the Professional Studies Office with any questions in regards to the above programmes.
