Applications are invited for the following vacancies working with Professor Michael Batty on the Mechanicity and EUNOIA projects:
Research Assistant (MECHANICITY Project)
The postholder must be expert in information technologies and have an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification within a social or engineering science discipline or in a relevant science discipline. They must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and time management skills and have the ability to complete tasks and projects to a high standard. They will be required to work both as part of a team and to work on their own, with minimum supervision. A willingness to take on new areas of application in ICT and to contribute to the development of the research culture in the team will be required.

Research Associate/Senior Research Associate x 3 (MECHANICITY Project)
All postholders will work on developing new models of cities based and will focus on key areas based around six related themes: urban morphology based on fractals, scaling and allometry to incorporate energetics in analogy to transport and network processes; statistical thermodynamics in spatial interaction and location modelling where energy, entropy, and accessibility are central; comparative analyses of city shape, compactness, energy use, and density; dynamic regimes building on self-criticality and bifurcation; operational land use transport modelling for London, and the development of web-based laboratories for posing ‘what if’ questions about urban change.

Research Associate (EUNOIA project)
The postholder must have a relevant PhD in a quantitative speciality within a social or engineering science discipline or in a science discipline with experience in social science applications. They must have knowledge & programming experience in high level programming languages, statistical analysis skills, familiarity with mathematical analysis to intermediate university level, excellent written and verbal communication skills and good reliability, motivation and organisational skills.
