On Thursday, 11th July the DPU held a panel discussion on the recent Gezi events and their reverberations on Turkey and beyond. Karabekir Akkoyunlu (LSE), Tunc Aybak (Middlesex University) and Alexandre Apsan Frediani (UCL) joined the panel with their perspectives on Turkey's contemporary political and urban context, situating the Gezi events within the Arab revolts and the recent mass mobilization in Brazil. The session was chaired by Dr Cassidy Johnson from the DPU drawing on her experience from Turkey. The well-attended event was concluded by a dialogue with remarks and questions from the audience.
