      <rss:description>   Project Falcon is a major Low Carbon Networks Fund (LCNF) project led by Western Power Distribution.
It aims to explore methods for coping with increased demand for electricity.
Traditionally, increased demand for electricity has been handled using
reinforcement - essentially making the network stronger, for example with
thicker cables. Project Falcon will test six alternatives to reinforcement.
This project is linked to smart grids development and is to explore methods to
manage new patterns of electricity demand and local generation.</rss:description>

      <rss:description> Professor Paul Ekins was appointed Professor of Resources and Environment Policy and Director of the  UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources  (UCL ISR) in August 2012 and will lead on the Institute’s research, teaching and engagement programmes.  Prof Ekins  joins UCL ISR from UCL Energy Institute who are now co-partnered sharing space and administration in central London.   Created in 2012, the vision of UCL ISR is a world of globally sustainable resource use. In pursuit of its Vision, the Mission of UCL ISR is to generate knowledge by supporting cross-disciplinary research approaches to promote the globally sustainable use of natural resources. UCL ISR has been established through the founding sponsorship of BHP Billiton Sustainable Communities and is a partner institute to the  UCL International Energy Policy Institute (UCL Australia) as well as UCL Energy Institute.</rss:description>
