Mr Tamer El-Khouly and Miss Deborah Benros (BSGS-PhD Candidates) have
organised a workshop in the Fifth International Conference on Design
Computing and Cognition DCC'2012 - taking place in College Station,
Texas, USA
entitled: Studying The Design Process: Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches
In addition Abel Maciel, Kinda Al Sayed, Simon de Timary (an alimni AAC student) and AAC course director Dr.Sean Hanna were also involved. BSGS presented six of a total of 36 papers in the main conference, and won awards for both best paper and best presentation.
The workshop gathered 18 attendees from different disciplines
(academics, architects and engineers) and included seven presentations on the
following topics:
1. Experiment in Design Research and Training
2. Measuring Change in Design Problems Using Structured Representations
for Biologically Inspired Design
3. Cognitive Styles in the Dimension of Field Sensibility-Independence
(FSI) in Industrial Design
4. Empirical Observations in Co-Located Collaborative Design: Combined
Ethnographic Refinements
5. Studying the design process: quantitative and qualitative
Approaches, an experience
6. The Evolution of Cognitive Phenotypes in Design Process
7. Mixed Research Methods
