What we do

The School undertakes lots of different types of work with partner organisations. The underlying philosophy of this work remains the development and application of knowledge to the built environment discipline in question.

UCL offers more than just an opportunity to consult with an expert in a subject area. Behind the experts in each School is an administrative support team that is able to ensure the smooth deliver of large-scale projects with appropriate input from research and consultancy teams as and when required.

For most partners it is the opportunity to work with UCL on a long-term project that adds value to the organisation which is most attractive. The School partnering philosophy means that long lasting and fruitful relationships are central to the development of enterprise operations. Typically an industry impact partnership will be a mixture of research and consultancy focused around identified problems within an organisation, although often the organisation will ask UCL to look at its operations and deliver appropriate projects to improve efficiency.

The School also provides Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and other types of training courses to organisations. Short courses can be both bespoke and generic in nature and are sometimes taken in the form individual Modules from the various MSc courses offered within the School. Training courses are often written for and delivered to a closed group within an organisation in order to generally raise the level of knowledge within a particular subject area, although more generic courses can also be delivered in both a closed or open setting.
