On Thursday 11th
February the Bartlett School of Planning held its inaugural postgraduate
careers evening. The focus of the event was an interactive panel session where
planning graduates working in a range of different careers outlined their
current role and working experiences. This was followed by a question and
answer session and a drinks reception with the chance for informal networking.
The aim of the evening was to highlight some of the opportunities open to BSP
graduates. The event was well attended with many questions and some lively
discussions taking place during the reception. [ posted: 12 March 2010 | 10:35 am]more...A new approach to managing

of £4861.00 from the UCL Bridging the Gaps programme for the project
'Rethinking urban sustainability: new approaches to the re-use of formerly
industrial spaces'. This cross-disciplinary project involves
collaboration with Professor Matthew Gandy of UCL Geography and researcher
Dr Amanda Claremont. The project will focus on visitor perceptions
and use of new, 'naturalistic' public open spaces built in former industrial
landscapes, in light of varied and changing understandings of ecological
sustainability. The proposed case studies are former factories
and railway and motorway corridors in Seoul,
New York, Amsterdam, Dortmund and London.
The project links to Dr Stevens's current work, funded by the Alexander von
Humboldt Foundation, which examines artificial city beaches throughout Germany. The
new funding will be used to prepare a large grant application to the Economic and Social Research Council in mid-2010.
[ posted: 21 January 2010 | 3:50 pm]more...
