UCL ISR, in partnership with the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), hosts this seminar on resource efficiency in the construction sector.

Global construction accounts for approximately 90% of all non8energy mineral use and 50% of all non-energy timber use. In the UK, construction and demolition of buildings produces 35% of our waste.

Economic and environmental considerations suggest that it is imperative to pursue optimal use of these resources. Also, as building regulations drive down the amount of carbon generated from heating, cooling and lighting buildings, the embodied impact of the materials from which these are constructed becomes more significant.

Optimising the efficiency of the resources used in buildings will require a substantial transformation of the way we conceive, construct, operate and de-construct buildings.

This event is free to UCL staff/students and ASBP members.
